Brady Releases Urgent Call for Action on Assault Weapons

Banning assault weapons and large-capacity magazines is a common-sense solution to address our nation’s gun violence crisis.

Some of the deadliest mass shootings in America all have one thing in common: The shooter used an assault weapon. They're uniquely lethal, designed to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. These weapons of war have no place in civilian hands.

Brady is asking for help advancing legislation in Congress to ban assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.

"Weapons like the AR-15 are designed for war, to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible," Brady urged in a recent email. "These firearms were never meant to be used by untrained civilians, but now they have become the choice for mass shooters. AR-15's have been used to kill"

10 in Boulder, 10 in Buffalo, 21 in Uvalde, TX, 17 in Parkland, 11 in Pittsburgh, 26 in Sutherland Springs, 59 in Las Vegas, 49 in Orlando, 26 in Sandy Hook, 12 in Aurora...

"Banning assault weapons does not infringe on anyone's right to own a firearm; banning assault weapons saves lives. If the NRA doesn't want to ban AR-15s, they are an enemy of the American people."

"Banning these weapons means stopping the next tragedy and saving lives. The NRA is ignoring the reality of our country and using its platform to galvanize Second Amendment extremists to block assault weapons bans while loosening gun laws – and we won't stand for it. We can't.

Right now, the Senate and House have introduced legislation to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and we need to make it clear that the majority of the American people support these bills."
